Free Design?

The cost of the producing a garden design is often included by landscape firms within their total costs but can leave clients with a garden that did not live up to expectations.

A free garden design is misleading because to build a successful garden one must understand the site. It also takes knowledge manipulating space, balancing open and closed areas and creating a framework that links the architecture of the building to the garden.

In the past I have considered creating templates for “regular” shaped gardens but I have always dismissed this concept as I believe there to be too many variables involved for a “one size fits all” approach.

Most garden designers work on a percentage sliding scale, recommended by the Society of Garden designers. This, therefore, caters for clients and garden of all size and budgets.

Nicholas Dexter provide consultations for a small fee which is refunded should you choose to proceed with the design process. This includes a 2 hour session of walking, talking and seeking inspiration. We will then write back to you with our findings and a price for getting the garden you want.
