The Modern + Natural garden blends simplicity with naturalism.
A natural garden takes you away from the stresses of modern life whilst benefiting the wider local habitat. The balancing act is to create gardens that are relaxed and naturalistic yet retains a subtle underlying sense of order or geometry.
Perennials and grasses are central to this process and can be arranged in several ways to achieve different looks. This is described further in our downloadable PDF.
Anyone can make the simple complicated. Creativity is making complicated simple.
Perhaps send us a photograph of your garden along with your basic requirements and we’ll send you an estimate for the design works.
Nicholas Dexter studied Geology at The University of Manchester before re-training as a landscape designer. This understanding of landform and the natural landscape is a huge influence on his approach to landscape design.
There are generally 1-2 people working in the office which allows for a greater control in the design process. Normally we have roughly 5-10 projects at different stages at any one time – which is can be challenging! We have a strong belief in creating work to a high professional standard so much of our time is spent on the design detail.
Nicholas lives in Brighton, has 1 child and enjoys sport and discovering exciting design and architecture and (of course) gardening.
Following an initial meeting we will survey the garden and begin the design process. We try to look at many different options to ensure that the new garden layout is well structured, simple and relates to the house and surrounding landscape.
Once the design is agreed we then provide detailed drawings and planting plans in order to get a price from a recommended landscape contractor. During the build we will oversee the works to ensure things get built correctly.
Planting
Natural planting is fundamental to our work. We are passionate to create natural habitats for wildlife and carefully select plants that are right for your garden.
